Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella, Calif., and The Little River Band along with Firefall brought a cool change to the desert night Saturday, June, 6, with fans from hundreds of miles away attending. The concert was a part of the Third annual Summer of Fun Concert Series for June. The night was full of ’70s, ’80s and current rock sounds moving the audience to standing ovations that they will be talking about with friends for years.
Don Felder took command of the stage at Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella, Calif., carrying his double-neck guitar and started right into his biggest hit, “Hotel California." The adoring audience whooped, hooted and roared their appreciation. Everyone was singing along with Felder. There was a killer guitar duet with Felder and very animated and colorful guitarist Frank Simes, who has backed many of the biggest names in rock ‘n’ roll. The crowd went wild.
Rita Rudner, of “Saturday Night Live” fame, was the headline act for the 2009 Gilda’s Club Desert Cities annual gala event. This beautifully produced show was warmly opened by our valley’s own Pattie Daly Caruso, a courageous woman and cancer survivor. Pattie came on-stage in a strikingly chic red ensemble, looking as lovely as ever. Pattie warmly welcomed the audience and graciously introduced the board president of the Gilda’s Club Desert Cities, William Bonnheim, who introduced a very touching video titled, “Behind the Red Door.”
Love was in the air Saturday night, Feb. 14, as the beautiful, talented and statuesque chanteuse, Marilyn McCoo took command of the stage at Spotlight 29 with her very talented, dapper husband and singing partner of 40 years, Billy Davis, Jr. It was as if no time has passed for this talent-filled duo. Their songs evoked a sense of nostalgia and joy for the packed audience.
I have adored “the psychic extraordinaire” Sylvia Browne for at least
20 years. I read her very first book, “Adventures of a Psychic,” and
have been hooked on the spirit world ever since. I dreamed of the day
when I would meet her, and she would give me a reading that would
include the words: “happy,” “healthy,” “successful” and the like. Sat.,
Jan. 31, Browne appeared at the Spotlight 29 Casino, and that was my
opportunity to see her (fairly) close up.
Unfortunately there would not be a reading for me. That was unfortunate
because I felt positive that my grandmothers, both maternal and
paternal, would know that I was there and they would contact me via
Browne. Naturally. To insure that they would find me, I brought a
rosary from one grandmother and a broach from the other.

Spotlight 29 Casino was the place to be on Sat., Jan. 24, especially if you are a country fan as I am. I jumped at the opportunity to attend the performance of the talented and beautiful local singer Karista Smith as well as three of my all time favorite country stars (in one room!) — Tracy Byrd, Tracy Lawrence and Richie McDonald, billed as the Country Rat Pack.

Still unforgettable ... that’s what Natalie Cole is! To see and listen to this dynamic chanteuse on stage is an experience of breathtaking, classic, elegance. To watch her perform, you would never know that Natalie Cole has just recently recovered from a very intense health challenge, battling the effects of hepatitis C that almost took her from us a little more than one year ago.
