The La Quinta Arts Foundation and city of La Quinta kicked off the 27th year of showing fine art to patrons and enthusiasts alike on Thu.-Sun., March 12-15 at the stunning La Quinta Civic Center.
The festival, which is ranked eighth in the nation, featured artwork from 230 of the nation's top artists, with 50 of those being new to this event. Guests enjoyed all forms of fine art. From mixed media, photography, sculpture and more, there was something for everyone.
A special emphasis was put on affordability this year, with some artists offering works ranging from $30 to the thousands of dollars. The Coachella Valley's finest restaurants also offered scrumptious food, beer and wine for those who needed a break during their day at the festival.
Artists John Gerletti and Suzi Perret, from Ventura, Calif., enjoyed showing their original hand-blown glass artwork. Gerletti, using only pure pigments, has been making unique glass artwork in his own furnace for more than 30 years. His work ranges from the abstract to the more subtle. Brisk business kept the two artists busy.
Hyatt Moore, a painter from Dana Point, Calif., creates work in many forms. From oil, acrylic or mixed media, there is vitality in his color and composition. Moore also offers burgeoning painters a chance to learn more, through his two-day "Loosen Up" workshops.
The La Quinta Arts Festival could not take place without the tireless effort of the 250 volunteers who helped plan, manage and execute this successful event.
