Fantasy Springs Resort Casino’s amazing outdoor venue, The Rock Yard in Indio, Calif., bought out a true rocking of the desert under the stars at 8 p.m., Sat., May 16, featuring Aeromyth, the Aerosmith tribute band. Local DJ Mr. Brad Mercer The Eagle 106.9 was the master of ceremonies for the night.

Aeromyth-002.jpgThe evening began with an opener for the show, a brilliant band named Hollywood Blonde from Huntington Beach. This band was playing very tight and the lead vocalist Diana Grace’s vocals of No Doubt and Blondie were projected with such amazing likeness that it was hard to tell she wasn’t the original.

Aeromyth-056.jpgThe amazing likeness did not stop there. Chris Vandahl, formerly of LA Guns, has an amazing likeness to Steven Tyler of the world famous rock band Aerosmith. His moves, voice and mannerisms just kept getting better set after set.

Following a recent Aeromyth performance at the Key Club in Hollywood, Dave Navarro was quoted as saying, “I thought I was hearing an Aerosmith Album!”

Well, it was more than hearing; it was an incredible vision also of the top rock ‘n’ roll band of history. From the costume changes and energy, the entire band rocked the crowd, the only way a true rock ‘n’ roller can.

Aeromyth-454.jpgI have not seen that kind of performance and energy on stage since I saw the Rolling Stones live in Angel’s stadium. The sets lasted about 45 minutes and rotated from the opener Hollywood Blonde to the surreal rock sound of Aeromyth each taking the stage for three sets.

The memories flowed; I reminisced many favorite songs. When the song “Dream On” hit its first note, it became difficult to photograph as I found myself singing along and dancing and wishing I had a lighter to hold over my head, all while trying to get an amazing shot of the stage.

The play list included the greats “Walk This Way,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Dude Looks Like A Lady,” “Jaded,” “Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing” and many more. I had forgotten how many greats Aerosmith recorded.

I could have listened to them all night long. They had the audience on their feet, even in the seated section everyone seemed to be dancing and with and there were many fans standing on walls to get a better look.

Lady Luck hit her hand all night long. Where else in the desert can you experience a free show on the house under the stars, catch a free t-shirt thrown out by the lovely ladies or band members, then hear stories of happy guests winning $550 on their way to a restroom break between sets?

This night was simply amazing. It was possibly the best treat I had in years.

Thank you Fantasy Springs along with The Eagle 106.9 for bringing a remarkable weekend staycation for those of us who call this desert valley our home. This is an amazing venue and the musicians you bring in are simply remarkable to say the least.
